Why is there a proposed zoning ordinance for allen township?

While no one could ever understand what goes on inside the minds of the Allen Township Zoning Committee and the Township Trustees, there have been public comments from some Allen Township residents over the past few years, openly voicing opposition to new wind turbine construction. Videos of Allen Township Trustee and Zoning Committee meetings can be found here --> Public Meeting History - Theeallen, including multiple residents voicing opposition for wind and solar power at a public hearing meeting held on July 5, 2024. Meeting transcripts are also available at the above website.

It would appear that some residents in Allen Township are fearful of clean energy. At Allen Township Trustee meetings, a few residents have said they think wind turbines are harmful to people and the environment. Comments have also been made that wind turbines are ugly.  All while ignoring sources of clean, economical energy and paying almost 30% more on electricity purchased from AEP Ohio (AEP Ohio Electric Bill Prices Spike by Nearly 30% - CNET)

Because of these fears, and perhaps lack of understanding of science, some residents petitioned the Allen Township Trustees to zone the township. At public meetings, these residents testified that they do not want wind turbines and solar farms from being constructed in Allen Township.

These few residents are not representative of the population of Allen Township, yet they have written a draft regulation that will potentially restrict every resident in the township from exercising his/her freedoms and rights to own and use property.

Sound familiar? Sure it does – look at Medieval Europe, where the caste system allowed a select few Kings, Queens, Lords and Ladies to wield enormous power over 99% of the population, keeping them in squalor and depriving them of their God-given rights.
